The EVAL-CN0394-ARDZ shield is a single supply, multi channel thermocouple temperature meter. The CN0394 uses ADuCM360 Low Power, Precision Analog Microcontroller with Dual Sigma-Delta ADCs, ARM Cortex-M3 as integrated solution for multi channel thermocouple temperature measurement with RTD cold junction compensation. The CN0394 support EVAL-ADICUP360 Arduino compatible form factor development board.
Each of the four(4) channels uses an Omega style connector for the thermocouples, which makes it easier to plug in and out different thermocouple types. Type U was selected so that all the channels on the board (P1 - P4) would be universal and interchangeable.
There is an RTD beneath the copper tabs of each connector which is used to measure the cold junction temperature. So no external cold junction measurement is needed with this board.
The analog outputs of each thermocouple channel and each RTD channel are connected directly to connector P6. Each of these analog voltages is passed directly to the ADuCM360 on the EVAL-ADICUP360 board. And is processed using the 24-bit sigma-deltas which are integrated into that IC.
