====== ADIS1649x EVALUATION GUIDE ======
The following tools that provide support for early evaluation of IMUs in the ADIS1649x product family:

  * The [[adi>EVAL-ADIS16IMU1|ADIS16IMU1/PCBZ]] is the **__breakout board__** for the ADIS1649x, which provides a simple way to connect to the ADIS1649x using a 16-pin, 1mm ribbon cable. 

  * The [[adi>EVAL-ADIS2|EVAL-ADIS2]] is the **__evaluation system__** for the ADIS1649x, which provides a simple way to communicate with the ADIS1649x, using a Windows PC platform. 

  * The [[adi>en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/EVAL-ADIS2.html#eb-relatedsoftware|IMU Evaluation Software]] works in conjunction with the [[adi>EVAL-ADIS2|EVAL-ADIS2]] and provides a convenient method for functional validation and some parametric-level characterization of the behaviors in the ADIS1649x. 

Please review all instructions before starting to install any of these tools, as following the proper sequence is often the fastest path to successful operation. 

===== Connecting the ADIS1649x to the Breakout Board =====
The [[adi>EVAL-ADIS16IMU1|ADIS16IMU1/PCBZ]] is the primary breakout board for the ADIS1649x products.  This breakout board simplifies the process of connecting an ADIS1649x IMU to an embedded processor system and also to the [[adi>EVAL-ADIS2|EVAL-ADIS2]] evaluation system.

===== Connecting to the EVAL-ADIS2 =====
<wrap em>J1</wrap> on the [[adi>eval-adis2|EVAL-ADIS2]] has the same pin assignments as <wrap em>J1</wrap> on the [[adi>en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/EVAL-ADIS16IMU1.html|ADIS16IMU1/PCB]]. Use a 16-pin, 1mm ribbon cable to connect these two boards together.

===== EVAL-ADIS USB Driver Installation =====

===STEP #1===
Visit the [[adi>en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/EVAL-ADIS2.html#eb-relatedsoftware|Software]] section of the [[adi>eval-adis2|EVAL-ADIS2]] web page to download the latest driver file, which is typically an executable file that inside of a zipped file (USB_Installation.zip, for example). 

===STEP #2===
Unpack the zip file and copy the driver file (SDPDrivers_2.exe) into a temporary location.  

===STEP #3===
Double click on the driver file and follow the prompts to finish the installation process. 

===STEP #4===
Click on **Next** when this window pops up.

===STEP #6===
Click on **Finish** when this window appears

===== IMU Evaluation Software Download =====
Click on the following link and save the file to a convenient location on the test PC.  Then extract two files into the folder that the application will run out of.
