AD-FRQCVT1-EBZ Functional Overview

The AD-FRQCVT1 extends the frequency of operation for the AD-FMCOMMS2/3/4:

  • Input signals in the frequency range of 1-100 MHz is up-converted to an output signal centered around 340 MHz to the AD-FMCOMMS board;
  • A output signal in the range of 1 to 100 MHz is generated by down-converting a 370 MHz signal from the AD-FMCOMMS board;
  • On-board programmable Phase-locked Loops frequency synthesizers generate the needed Local Oscillator signals used by the up- and down-converting mixers.

AD-FRQCVT1-EBZ Features

Upconversion

  • Input frequency 1 - 100 MHz
  • Reference impedance 50 ohm
  • Conversion Gain 14 dB
  • Flatness 3.5 dB
  • Input P1dB -6 dBm
  • Bandwidth 20 MHz

Downconversion

  • Output frequency 1 - 100 MHz
  • Reference impedance 50 ohm
  • Conversion Gain 14 dB
  • Bandwidth 20 MHz

LO

The LO used in on this board is the ADF4351 which is software programmable. Please refer to the device data sheet for the two LO within this board. The board provides a 25MHz crystal for the ADF4351.

SPI

The SPI signals are directly passed to the FMC connector.

Control/Monitor

Power

Key components:

ADP2370 Buck regulator, 800mA, 3.2 to 15V
ADM7154 Low dropout, linear regulator, 600mA, 2.3 to 5.5V
ADP7104 High accuracy, 500mA LDO
ADM7160 Ultra low noise LDO, 200mA, 2.2 V to 5.5V input range

The board receives all the power from the FMCOMMSx board through power supply cable provided.
